3 reasons you need to join some writing community.

The truth is, most writers are introverts. We thrive most when we are in our favorite place, writing, without a lot of interaction. If we do go to a site with a large gathering of people, it is draining, and we like the peace of solitude to recharge.

However, there are many important reasons why writers should join at least one writing community.

Here are 3 reasons:

  • Keep you on track — Life happens, and your day gets busy. It is way too easy to fall out of the habit of writing every day. A writing group can help to keep you on track. The members of your cartel can remind you to keep at it. It is essential to keep a writing routine, and you can have your group members remind you of that daily, or weekly, whichever you want. However, as often you choose to write, the main thing is that you do it. Write and keep writing.
  • Feedback — Many famous writers have been part of different writing groups. J.R.R Tolkien was part of a couple of writing groups in his life. In the movie Tolkien, it shows his journey with his school friends, up until he goes to war. They got together daily and talked about writing, poetry, and music. Later in life, when he was a Professor at Oxford, he was part of a well-know writing community: The Inklings. In Diana Pavlac Glyer’s book Bandersnatch, she talks about how the members would sit and talk about their story ideas with each other. The other writers would give ideas and feedback on each other’s work. Every writer needs that: A group that has the same aspirations and goals to bounce ideas off of, to get feedback along the way.

Working Title…

  • Support and Encouragement — A writing community or group is the perfect place to get the support and encouragement that you need. Every writer goes through struggles. People in your writing circle will lift you and help you to carry on. They will be your cheering section for every little milestone during your writing journey. That’s what a writing community can do for you, and you in return will be that cheering section for others. Did you get a certain amount of visitors to your website? Did you write a certain number of words that day? Not only will they cheer you on, they will also share your work with their followers if that’s what you want. Don’t miss out. Find a writing group; you will be glad that you did.
